The 8k Silky Ruck Huck is an event to bring awareness to the fight against veteran PTSD and veteran suicide. It will take place in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, June 13th 2020. The 8k will start and end at the Vietnam Veterans of Oregon Memorial. The Silky Ruck Huck will meander through trails in Washington Park which has beautifully thick and tall Douglas fir trees. At the halfway mark you will work your way through the beautiful International Test Rose Garden which has over 650 different varieties of roses.
Each entrant will receive a pair of ranger silkies and if the entrant wishes, they carry weight to signify the mental, physical, and emotional weight that veterans and their families have to carry.
Proceeds raised by this event will be used to for the event, future events and will go towards Phoenix Project. Phoenix Project is a registered 501(c)(3) that is designed to help veterans hone existing skills, learn new skills, and to find a healthy non-destructive outlet to help them transition back into civilian life.
